When a person becomes proud, others become proud with him. But if he is humble, others are too ashamed to be proud

They said to Bayazid Bistami, "The Key for Paradise is 'La ilaha illAllah"

He replied, "It is true, but a key is for opening a lock, and the key of such witnessing will turn only by:
A tongue which does not lie nor backbite
A heart without betrayal
A stomach without forbidden or doubtful provision
and deeds without desire or innovation.
