- I am a muslim convert of less than a year, and I could not be happier, alhamdulilah. Islam has changed my life for the better and I have found peace with myself in converting. Inshallah, I aspire to become a writer and professor (teaching psychology and/or anthropology). My passions in life (besides Allah swt :) ) are in writing and learning; I love to learn anything and everything I can- it keeps hands busy and minds sharp.
Though not yet old enough to be wed on my own, inshallah I will marry young and have good children.
My birth name is Ciara, but I choose Izdihar as my muslim name, as it means "blossoming", and I am also blossoming, into a life of peace and piety insha'allah. I am of mainly Dutch and Norwegian descent, also Scottish and German. My last name, Vanden Boogard, means "of the orchard" in Dutch.

My Army Brats
I also will try to get a photo of my cousin, Adam, who has been in the Navy several years now, and has been overseas. Alhamdulilah he is safe and back in the states for now.
I bought a used army jacket from a local thrift shop around where I live in honor of them, and I wear it each day, despite the fact that it is many sizes too big for me.
I pray each day that they will remain safe and well, insha'allah.
The first picture is of my cousin, Anthony- Allah bless his heart also. He is a senior in high school- and so sweet to me, alhamdulilah! He walks me a third of the way home most days. Allah bless him- for all he has had to put up with in his life- and for all the times he puts up with me!

Oh, the sleepless nights.
when minds do wander so
without a cause or reason
to somewhere only allah knows
When coffee helps keep you awake
though without it you would still be
to just hold the cup in my hand
feels nice and warm to me

My brother is coming home in two days- we're driving three hours to an airport to pick him up- and for two weeks, he's not leaving our (more so my) sight!
